The Course of the Moon - New album release tour

László Fassang (piano) and Vincent Le Quang (saxophone) will perform in three Hungarian cities – Győr, Pécs and Budapest – in November 2007 to celebrate the release of their improvisational album, The Course of the Moon.

"... László Fassang and Vincent Le Quang have created harmony despite the radical forms of expressions," wrote critic Zoltán Végső commenting on the album that was released in May 2007 by Orpheia. And this is how the two young musicians summarized their experience of improvizing together: "We know that whatever happens, the other person is there and won’t let the musical progression break. We need to trust each other just like acrobats trust their partners..."

Organ Harvest in Somorja - with László Fassang

On November 18, 2007 at 6:00 pm, László Fassang will perform during the last night of the series of events called the "Autumn organ recitals in Somorja" at the parish church of this Slovak city.

The organ of the church was built in 1886 by Ludwig Mooser (who also built the organs of the basilicas in Esztergon and in Eger). Since then, the organ has been rebuilt several times. By the year 2000, it has deteriorated so much that it became necessary to reconstruct and restore it. The organ was rebuilt in 2004–2005 by Gyula Vági from Budapest. The instrument has twenty-three registers and two manuals. The organ case was restaured by Mihály Staudt from Bratislava.

The detailed program of László Fassang’s November 18th recital:
Bach:
- Prelude and Fugue in A minor, BWV 543
- Schmücke dich o liebe Seele, BWV 654
- Kommst du nun, Jesu, vom Himmel herunter, BWV 650
- Fugue in G-major (Gigue), BWV 577
Handel: Concerto in F major, op. 4 No. 5, HWV 293
Improvizations

Admission is free. For more information about the organ, please visit: http://www.orgonaepites.hu/main.html

The "Autumn organ recitals in Somorja" festival is organized by the Cultural Association of Slovak Hungarians (Csemadok) and by the Association of Slovak Musicians.

Three Artists, Three Genres, One Concert

On November 22, 2007 at 7:30 pm at the Palace of the Arts (Művészetek Palotája) in Budapest, classical, jazz, and folk music will blend together at the special concert by Bea Palya (vocal), Vincent Le Quang (soprano saxophone) and László Fassang (organ).

The first half of the program will feature organ pieces and adaptations by Bach, as well as improvisations on different themes of the Baroque master; the second half will mostly be dominated by traditional music.

Bea Palya is one of the most diverse and creative young singers of today. Her main focus lies on Hungarian, Gipsy, Bulgarian and other folk- as well as Indian music. In addition she contributes to world music, jazz and recitative genres too. She was a founding member of Folkestra, Kárpátia, and Zurgó and for a long time she was a guest musician at Sebő, the Nagy János Trio, the Balázs Elemér Group and Etnofon. Over the course of the past few years she has mainly been realising her own projects; she regularly gives solo concerts and concerts with her own band, the Bea Palya Quintet, in Hungary and abroad. She is currently working on her new album, which will feature traditional melodies with Bea Palya’s own lyrics. She had a joint concert with László Fassang at the end of the summer at the Dohány Street Synagogue, where they blended the worlds of classical and traditional music.

Vincent Le Quang studied mathematics and music; he received his diplomas at the Schola Cantorum (harmony, counterpoint and composition) and at the Paris Conservatoire (jazz and improvisation). He won the Soloist first Prize and the Orchestra first Prize at the ”La Défense” French Jazz Contest in 2003. Lê Quang composes for different formations in which he plays, and conducts orchestras, employing the improvisational gestural art of Soundpainting that he has been presenting in France for seven years. In 2007 he was appointed improvisation teacher at the Paris Conservatoire. László Fassang and Vincent Le Quang met at the Paris Conservatoire and have performed together numerous times since then. Their first joint album, The Course of the Moon, was released in 2007.
